On Wednesday …

Scituate Reservoir & the Lost Villages: The North Kingstown Free Library presents a slide show and talk about the 14,800 acres of land in rural Scituate that were condemned to build the Scituate Reservoir in 1915. The hardworking people of the five villages that were located on this land lost their property and their homes. Today, water from this reservoir serves more than 60 percent of Rhode Islanders. Ray Wolf, author of several books about Rhode Island history for the Images of America series, will show slides and tell us about these villages, lying now beneath the water, and describe the construction of the reservoir. Please register by calling 294-3306. 6:30 p.m.

Recycle/Repurpose Design Challenge: Teens age 13 to 18 are welcome to take part in a workshop with interior architect and designer Aarti Kathuria to learn how to reuse and repurpose recycled materials, such as fabric, string and wood, in innovative and functional ways. Students will form teams to create a surface, installation or an object out of the provided materials. Pizza will be included for anyone who wants it! 18 Valley Street in Jamestown at 5 p.m. You’ll find more information here.
