Five Things: School, Zoning Meetings & An Opening

Your guide for life in North Kingstown today, Aug. 13.

School Committee meeting: The panel will meet in executive (closed) session starting at 5:45 p.m. with the public work session due to begin at 7. In the auditorium at NKHS. You’ll find the agenda here. 

Zoning Board meeting: The panel meets at Town Hall at 7 p.m. and you can see the agenda here.

The Pear, The Wave, The Animal, an opening: Paintings by Lorena Pugh at the Coastal Living Gallery Aug. 5-31, but the opening is Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

Photo workshop: This is a slide presentation by Eileen McCarney Muldoon and Cindy Horovitz Wilson. They explore the wonders of travel photography as experienced through their Profundo Journeys workshops. Visit Cuba, Ireland, Greece, Italy and Hungary through the eyes of the instructors and participants. For over 16 years, they have been photographing together for the pure sake of art. This presentation is free and open to the public. Wickford Art Association, 36 Beach Street. 7 p.m.

Bike Burlington (Vermont!): Library Outreach Coordinator Elizabeth Donovan will share her slides of bike rides in Burlington, Vt. Cruise along Lake Champlain, through Ethan Allen Park, past cornfields in the Intervale and end up at the University of Vermont. Or try a more challenging road ride through the quiet country roads of the Champlain Islands. Bring stories of your own favorite bike rides. At the NK Free Library at 6:30 p.m. You can register by calling 294-3306.

Trash pickup delayed: Because of the Victory Day holiday yesterday, trash pickup is delayed a day all week, so if your trash is usually picked up on Tuesdays, it will be picked up on Wednesday this week.
