Tuesday Summer Concerts: New York Minute will be playing at the water’s edge in Wickford, behind 55 Brown Street, Tuesday at 7 p.m. For a list of all the upcoming summer concerts, check out the NK Arts Council website here.

Planning Commission meeting: The agenda includes two preapplication presentations and discussion of a major modification of Stonecroft at Wickford Village, a low- and moderate-housing application. The meeting takes place at Town Hall starting at 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday,

Recycle/Repurpose Design Challenge: Teens age 13 to 18 are welcome to take part in a workshop with interior architect and designer Aarti Kathuria to learn how to reuse and repurpose recycled materials, such as fabric, string and wood, in innovative and functional ways. Students will form teams to create a surface, installation or an object out of the provided materials. Pizza will be included for anyone who wants it! 18 Valley Street in Jamestown at 5 p.m. You’ll find more information here.

RhodeMap RI Regional Forum: The state wants to know – what's it like living and working in Rhode Island? You can tell them how to build a better Rhode Island. Thursday’s session is one of four being held around the state this week. It is a free public open forum where your thoughts and ideas can make a difference. At the URI Memorial Student Union in Kingston. From 5 to 9 p.m. Formal program begins at 6:00 p.m., but stop by anytime.

On Friday,

Poetry & Art opening: The opening reception for Poetry & Art, an exhibition of contemporary poetry and responsive art sponsored by the Wickford Art Association. A collection of 55 poems by local writers was compiled and 55 juried artist members of the WAA were asked to select a poem from the submissions and create a piece of art inspired by the poem. The opening takes place at 36 Beach Street from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Paint the Town Red! Gilbert Stuart fundraiser: The public is invited to the gala fundraiser Paint the Town Red!, at the Gilbert Stuart Museum, on Friday, Aug. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 each and reservations are requested. The event will be held, rain or shine, under tents.  For questions or to make reservations please call the Museum at 401-294-3001. Proceeds will go toward painting the house and expanding the Welcome Center.
