Gregory Packhem of North Kingstown earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in May, 2013.
More than 3,000 students graduated from Tufts University on May 19. The graduates from the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering included William Zile of Saunderstown, with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering magna cum laude.

Juan De Cardenas of North Kingstown, has earned a BS in Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. De Cardenas was among approximately 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students who received degrees during Georgia Tech's 245th commencement exercises.

The following students were awarded degrees from Plymouth State University at their 142nd Commencement ceremony May 18, 2013: Jeffrey Blair earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Jenna Best earned a Master of Education in K-12 Education.
Dean's List:
Nicole Rains is one of 629 students who made the Dean's List at California Lutheran University for the spring semester. Rains is majoring in liberal studies. Students qualify for the Dean's List by maintaining a 3.6 grade point average in their academic subjects.
Alexander Kuczmarski was named to the Dean's List at Villanova University for the spring 2013 semester. Kuczmarski is studying Biology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Villanova University Dean's List recipients are honored by their college's respective dean. To qualify, one must be a matriculated full-time student and earn a semester grade point average of at least 3.5.The College of Nursing requires students to earn at least a 3.5 for the academic year.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute students named to spring 2013 Dean's List for academic achievement are Andrew Buresh and Elizabeth Sammartino, both of of Saunderstown.
Gabrielle Friedmann of North Kingstown, has been named to the dean's list at Quinnipiac University for the Spring 2013 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis to be eligible.
Nolan Sayre '15, a Mechanical Engineering major and a resident of Saunderstown, was named to the Dean's List at Union College for the 2012-13 academic year. Sayre is a 2011 graduate of North Kingstown High School. To make Dean's List, students must receive a 3.5 grade point average for the entire academic year. They also must meet several other requirements to be awarded the honor.
Melissa Lamendola, a member of the class of 2014 from North Kingstown, has been named to the spring 2013 Dean's List at Loyola University Maryland. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits.
Marley Owen, a resident of North Kingstown and a Clinical Health Studies major in the class of 2015, was named to the Dean's list in Ithaca College's School of Health Sciences and Human Performance for the Spring 2013 semester.
The following area students have been named to the dean's list for the spring 2013 semester at the University of Vermont: Paul G. Madoian, a first-year student majoring in Philosophy in the College of Arts & Sciences; Michaela L. Polom, a first-year student majoring in Wildlife & Fisheries Biology in the Rubenstein School of Environment & Natural Resources; Thomas J. Briggs, a senior majoring in Molecular Genetics in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences; Kara R. Proctor, a junior majoring in Medical Laboratory Sciences in the College of Nursing & Health Sciences; and Meg E. Ziegler, a sophomore majoring in Secondary Education English in the College of Education & Social Services. To be named to the dean's lists, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.
Mark Rini, class of 2016, has been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2013 semester at Assumption College. To make the Dean's List, Assumption students must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
More than 2,000 high-achieving students have been named to the Hofstra University Dean's List for Spring 2013. Students who began their studies before Fall 2012 must earn at least a 3.4 grade point average to qualify. Those who entered the university after Fall 2012 must earn a grade point average of 3.5. The following students have been named to Plymouth State University's President's List: Jeffrey Blair and Samantha Hayes of North Kingstown. To be named to the President's List, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 or better for the spring 2013 semester and must have attempted at least 12 credit hours during the semester. These credit hours must be in courses that earn grade points and the student must have completed all such courses attempted.
