Officials have confirmed that the driver involved in Saturday morning's crash on Main Street in Coventry has died from injuries sustained when the late-model Porsche he was driving struck a utility pole.
According to Coventry police, Kasyl Ilarraza, 48, of 20 Sweet Lane in North Kingstown, died after being admitted to Rhode Island Hospital following the accident that occurred around 1 a.m. Saturday.
Reports say Ilarraza was traveling west on Main Street when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a chain-link fence and telephone pole. Coventry police said no apparent skid marks from braking were found by investigators.

Firefighters had to use cutting tools to extricate Ilarraza from the wreckage.
