North Kingstown Animal Hospital: We have an amazing team of six doctors and experienced staff. Our team of doctors are experienced in urgent care, wellness, senior and pediatric care, dentistry, surgery and more. Our doctors include: Dr. Max Balmforth, the founder of NKAH in 1974, who has per diem hours available; Dr. Dave Mandarini, who has been part of our team since 1994; Dr. Amy Hopper formally from Atwood VCA; Dr. Lisa Connor; Dr. Mary Beth Armstrong and Dr Amanda Holmes.
Patch: North Kingstown Animal Hospital is a full-service facility offering a broad spectrum of care. How does the hospital provide for its patients?
North Kingstown Animal Hospital: NKAH has a well-trained, experienced team that works together in a family-friendly environment. Our team attends educational meetings through the year, and we hold regular team meetings to make sure we are providing exceptional care for our patients.
Patch: What questions should pet owners ask when searching for the right animal hospital?
North Kingstown Animal Hospital: Some questions to ask would be: What are the hours and veterinary services available? Are other services available, such as boarding, bathing, pet food and prescriptions?
Patch: The hospital’s goal is to nurture the human-animal bond. How does it accomplish this?
North Kingstown Animal Hospital: Our team treats every pet like they would their own. We take pride in listening to the pet parents concerns and work to find a resolve for the best outcome. We offer outlets for pet owners to find financial help for treatment. Part of our goal is to explain options and treatment plans to work with our clients and their family's constants.
Patch: What are the North Kingstown Animal Hospital’s proudest moments?
North Kingstown Animal Hospital: We are proud to be part of the community for over 40 years as a family owned practice, no cooperate overhead, and our doctors do not work on commission. We are also proud to provide affordable veterinary care to help keep pets happy and healthy!
Patch: Tell us about the hospital’s open-door policy.
North Kingstown Animal Hospital: Our doctors have office hours by appointment six days a week and provide surgery and dental procedures five days a week. We also do technician appointments for nail trims and other procedures such as laser treatments and fluid therapy.
Patch: What types of animals does the hospital accept as patients?
North Kingstown Animal Hospital: We see mostly cats and dogs, but we also see rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, ferrets and other small animals.
Patch: How does North Kingstown Animal Hospital contribute to the community?
North Kingstown Animal Hospital: We have been apart of the community for over 40 years. We work closely with several township shelters and police departments. North Kingstown Animal Hospital is happy to have our doctors be part of the rabies clinics. We support leagues and shelters as well as work with rescue groups to get pets ready for their forever home. Being part of the community has always been an important part of who we are.
Patch: What resources does the hospital offer to pet owners?
North Kingstown Animal Hospital: Our resources include availability to a board-certified surgeon and board-certified radiologist [and] cardiologist echo tech read by a board-certified cardiologist. We also have resources for financial funding. Others resources include our in-house ultrasound machine, lab equipment, digital x-ray and our experienced team of doctors and technicians.
