North Kingstown Girls Soccer wins JV State Championship

In the midst of varsity playoff action, the JV's big victory was a little overlooked.

Written by Lisa Edwards.

The JV girls soccer team got off to a slow start with our first game resulting in a loss to Prout School. The team consisting of 9 sophomores and 11 freshman quickly came together though to win a total of nine games in the regular season.

JV playoffs were handled slightly different this year, in a one-day tournament format on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Bend Street, in Warwick. Only the top four teams were able to play and North being in the number 4 slot, had to make it through the first game against LaSalle. The North JV girls hit the field ready to win and shut out the stunned LaSalle team.

The final game against Portsmouth was a very tight game ending in a tie and then went into overtime.  The game ended in a shoot out, with three girls scoring from North along with the North keeper, making three big saves to win the shootout.
