North Kingstown Mother Dies after NH Crash
A 34-year-old North Kingstown woman is dead and her 4-year-old son was seriously hurt after a drunk wrong-way driver crashed into her car.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—A 34-year old North Kingstown woman was killed in a wrong-way crash caused by a drunk driver on Interstate 89 in New Hampshire on Wednesday night, according to the New Hampshire State Police.
Police said that Ellynn Koelsch, 34, of North Kingstown, was heading south on the interstate when a car being driven by Daniel Cowdrey, 38, of Vermont, crashed into her car.
Koelsch was transporting a four-year-old boy at the time of the crash who suffered serious injuries. He was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. His mother was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Cowdrey is being charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence. He was also transported to the hospital and was treated for minor injuries.
"At this time it does appear that drugs or alcohol were factors as well as driving the wrong way on the interstate; however, all aspects of the crash remain under investigation," police said in a news release.

Police said the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit is being assisted by the Lebanon Police Department, the state police Troop D, Lebanon Fire & Rescue and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

According to her online profile, Koelsch was a physical therapist with a practice in East Providence, RI.
