North Kingstown Receives $361K Federal Grant For Fire Department
North Kingstown was one of seven Rhode Island towns to receive federal funding in this round of grants.
NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — The North Kingstown Fire Department was awarded a federal grant to bolster training, acquire equipment, and increase safety.
North Kingstown's fire department was one of seven in Rhode Island to receive funding in the $2.1 million package given through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program and the Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program.
"These federal funds will help provide our firefighters with vital equipment and training to improve public safety," said U.S. Sens. Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Jim Langevin and David Cicilline in a joint statement. "Our firefighters put their lives on the line and are on the frontlines every day responding to a range of emergencies, whether it’s a fire, medical emergency, or some other incident. These grants will help ensure they are prepared and protected and can do their jobs safely and effectively.

Specifically, the North Kingstown Fire Department received $360,870 for a Lock Box Emergency Access Program.
