Spring vacation is here and with the warmer weather, Smithfield has some fun (and inexpensive) outdoor - and indoor - activities week while the kids are home from school.

Story Hours at Smithfield Library

Why Go: Morning story hours are for children ages 31/2-6 years old. As usual, there will be enjoyable stories and crafts. Pre-registration is required.

Public Skating at Smithfield Ice Rink
Where/When: At Smithfield Municipal Ice Rink, 109 Pleasant View Ave., Smithfield. On Tuesday, April 16 from 12 - 2 p.m.
Why Go: Enjoy some great family bonding time at the skating rink on a budget.
Pricing: $3 Admission/$5 Rental

Art in the Afternoon at Smithfield Library
Where/When: East Smithfield Public Library, 50 Emond Road, Smithfield. | Wednesday, April 17 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Why Go: Art in the Afternoon invites grade school children to enjoy a literature-based art program using many different methods and materials in the creation of various art projects and crafts. Sign your child up for some fun to explore projection and technological art

Why Go: As the school year winds down to a close, your youngsters in grades K-8 may want to use their free time during vacation to catch up on projects or extra credit. Your friendly neighborhood Children’s/Young Adult Librarian will be ready to help you with your homework.

Friday Game Day at East Smithfield Public Library

Why Go: Head over to the library and play a board game, bring a friend or make a new one.

Saturday:
Rhode Island Recorder Society Family Concert
Where/When: Greenville Public Library, 573 Putnam Pike, Greenville. | Satruday, April 20 at 2 p.m.
Why Go: An unusual Family Concert is coming. Six members from the Rhode Island Recorder Society are performing various pieces of music that will appearl to young and old alike: songs and dances of Shakespeare's day, music drawn from the folk and world music traditions, a Broadway tune, a smokey tango, and a very special piece written by Rhode Island's own Will Ayton, Music Director for the group. The members are also doing a demonstration of the recorder instrument.
