School Com Tonight, Trash Bins Come Tuesday, Cocktails Thursday

School Committee tonight - The Smithfield School Committee meets tonight, 7 p.m. at Smithfield High School. On their agenda is a report from the SHS student representative, and reading and approval of the: Obsolete Equipment Policy, Volunteer Policy, and District Strategic Plan. They'll also discuss electrical panel upgrades at the High School.

Trash bins Tuesday - Home delivery of your new trash and recycling carts will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 17. All residents should receive their new carts by Friday, Oct. 4.

Automated collection of trash and recycling will begin the week of Oct. 7 on your normally scheduled collection day. Please do not use your new carts until then. 

Cocktails for Alzheimer's Thursday Visit Pinewood Pub, 16 Terry Lane (Rt. 44) in Chepachet Thursday, Sept. 19 for Cocktails for a Cause, sponsored by Bayberry Commons. Cocktails start at 5 p.m. There is a $5 admission at the door and free appetizers also a wine basket raffle and 50/50 raffle. All proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association RI Chapter.  

Economic Development Thursday - The Economic Development Commission meets Thursday, 6 p.m., at Smithfield Town Hall, 64 Farnum Pike. They'll discuss, among other items on their agenda, reducing the number of sitting members. The current number of members is six.

SFD Open House - The Smithfield Fire Department is hosting their annual open house Oct. 5 from 12-4 p.m. at 607 Putnam Pike. The event is sponsored by Smithfield Fire Department, Home Depot and Papa Gino’s.
