SFD Log: Mutual Aid to N. Smithfield, Trash Fire Among 66 Calls

Fire Department services responded to 66 calls between Sept. 8 and Sept. 14.

The Smithfield Fire Department responded to 66 calls between Sept. 8 and Sept. 14, including 44 medical emergencies, with 40 transports to local hospitals. 

Personnel from all 3 firehouses responded to 66 incidents:  

· Engine 1 responded to 43 calls.

· Rescue 1 responded to 37 calls.

· Engine 2 responded to 31 calls.

· Rescue 2 responded to 21 calls.

· Ladder 1 responded to 4 calls.

 Types of calls fire apparatus responded to include:

· 1 Structure fire: Engine 2 provided mutual aid to the Town of North Smithfield to assist their companies with a reported structure fire.

· 1 Trash/Rubbish fire.

·  44 EMS calls

· 2 Motor Vehicle Accidents with injuries.

· 7 Accidental or unintentional fire alarm activations.

The Fire Prevention Division conducted 5 resale smoke/carbon monoxide safety inspections, 4 residential plan reviews.

Six members of the SFD completed Rope Rescue Technician 1 & 2 at the New Hampshire Fire Academy, the week of 9/8 – 9/13.  Members were trained in high and low angle rescue as well as mechanical advantage systems.
