Smithfield, Lincoln Police Investigate Stolen Car Found Flaming

Elizabeth Sankey, 48, of 67 Whipple Road, was at home Sept. 12 at 11:08 p.m. when Lincoln Police called to tell her they'd found her white 2004 Chevy Avalance in their town, on fire.

Sankey, who'd last seen the SUV in her driveway that evening at about 7:30 p.m. while walking her dog, checked on it and confirmed the vehicle wasn't there. She told Smithfield Police she still had both her primary and spare set of keys for the vehicle.

On Sept. 20, Sankey reported finding several items also missing from her garage, which she believes were taken at the same time as her SUV. Those items included an Ele Miter Saw, $200, Ele Table Saw, $200, two gas tanks worth $200 in total, and four rims with tires worth about $200 total.

Smithfield Police, Lincoln Police and Amica Insurance are continuing to investigate the incident.
