
Smithfield Police Capt. Robert Eaton is one of four finalists for the Uxbridge, MA Police Chief job vacated after the retirement of Chief Scott Freitas in August.
The Woonsocket Call reports Lee will meet with Uxbridge residents tonight, 6:45 – 8 p.m. at Uxbridge Town Hall with three other candidates: Woonsocket Police Capt. Edward Lee, Auburn, Mass., Det. Lt. Jeffrey Lourie; and interim Uxbridge Police Chief Lt. Peter B. Emerick.
Eaton, the Smithfield Police Department's Administrative Division Commander, became a full-time police officer June 5, 1990, after graduating from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy, according to the Smithfield Police Department's roll call page.
Eaton is the department’s Director of Training, Director of Recruitment & Selection, and oversees the department’s Community Police Unit, as well as its Operations & Traffic Services Division.
He's a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy (session 248), and recently completed his Master’s coursework in Public Administration; he also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administration of Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University.

Eaton attended the University of Rhode Island’s Bureau of Criminology Investigation School, and completed the F.B.I. Law Enforcement Executive Development program as well as Bryant University’s Law Enforcement Leadership Development program.
