Smithfield's Most Wanted: Credit Card Fraud, A/C Theft

Use of a fraudulent credit card and the theft of a restaurant's air conditioning unit are on the Smithfield Police Department's list of active investigations.

Credit card fraud at Kohl's:

Smithfield Police are seeking a black male in connection with fraudulent use of a credit card at the Kohl's store on Putnam Pike. According to the Rhode Island's Most Wanted website, the man used a card issued with another person's name to buy gift cards at the department store on May 22.

The man is also suspected of trying to use the victim's identity to open credit accounts at T.J. Maxx and Target, but was denied. He also used the victim's identity to make purchases at a store in Waterford, CT.

Police describe the man as tall with a large build. Surveillance video taken at Kohl's on May 22 showed him wearing a red hoodie and a white cap.

Air conditioning unit theft from Karen's Kitchen:

Two men are sought in connection with the April 21 theft of an outdoor air conditioning unit from Karen's Kitchen at 347 Waterman Ave.

Police say one of the men is a bald white male in his 30s; the other is a blond white male in his late 20s to early 30s. 

Surveillance video shows the men traveling in a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee.
