2 Richland One Students Named National Achievement Scholarship Winners
The students will each receive a $2,500 scholarship.
Lindsey A. Hallingquest of Columbia High School and Eloisa J. Baez Jones of Dreher High School have been named winners in the prestigious and highly competitive 2013 National Achievement Scholarship Program.
They are amongthe 800 seniors across the nation who have won college scholarships totaling more than $2 million. Each student will receive a $2,500 scholarship.
The National Achievement Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding African-American high school seniors who are the highest scorers in their states on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Each winner must have a record of high academic performance in high school, be endorsed and recommended by the school principal, earn high SAT scores and be actively involved in his or her school and community.

Hallingquest plans to attend Duke University in North Carolina this fall where he will major in biology with the ultimate goal of becoming a doctor.
Jones plans to go to college and pursue a career in the field of biomedical engineering. While at Dreher she participated in the school’s award-winning FIRSTRobotics team.
