23 Richland One Schools Win Palmetto Gold, Silver Awards

These schools were recognized for high levels of academic achievement and high rates of improvement, as well as for their efforts to close the achievement gaps.

Twenty-three Richland One schools are recipients of the Palmetto Gold or Silver Awards, the S.C. Department of Education announced Monday.

The Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards program recognizes schools for high levels of academic achievement and high rates of improvement. It also rewards schools that are closing the achievement gaps between groups of students.

Overall, Richland One schools won 15 Palmetto Gold Awards and eight Palmetto Silver Awards for dramatically improving students’ performance in 2012. Several schools won more than one award.
