The potential for freezing rain is increasing and significant icing is possible with the greatest threat being in areas north of Columbia. According to NWS this may lead to accumulating ice that could bring hazardous travel conditions and power outages late January 15 through January 16.
The Columbia-Richland Fire Department encourages our citizens to use utmost caution on the roadways this weekend. Also given the threat of power outages be sure you have an emergency kit ready for your home. This kit should include a flashlight and spare batteries.
