UPDATED: Columbia Police Investigating Shooting in Vista

Police said around 1 a.m. a man was shot in the chest during an armed robbery near Gervais and Lincoln in the City of Columbia.

Columbia Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened in the Vista Friday night.

Officers said around 1 a.m., a man and woman were approached by two black males when the two had just gotten inside their vehicle that was parked in a lot at the 1200 block of Lincoln street.

A victim said one of the suspects opened the driver’s side door and demanded their belongings at the gunpoint, according to a department release. 

It is believed that the victim got out of the car and fought with that suspect.

The victim was then punched in the face by the second suspect and was shot in the chest.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition Saturday night, according to the department. 

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspects. 

The suspects are described as two black males wearing dark clothing including pants, jackets and shoes.

One man had on a black ‘pull down’ cap with ear covers, while the other suspect wore a red and black plaid ‘pull down’ cap with ear covers.

The suspects were seen entering and leaving the location of the shooting in what appears to be a dark, late model, possibly a 2010 to 2012 Dodge Avenger. The vehicle may have a missing hub cap on the left front side or a spare tire.
