Man Charged with Attempted Burglary Near Bluff Road

Deputies say that the 28-year-old may be tied to other burglaries in the Shop and Bluff road area.

A 28-year-old man is in jail after deputies say he tried to break into an apartment off of Bluff Road earlier this month.

Richland County deputies say Brad Channing Evans attempted to break into an apartment at The Woodlands of Columbia at 1050 Southern Drive around 3 a.m. on March 11. 

The victim heard noises coming from the front window of the apartment and when he went to check, Evans fled, according to the sheriff's department.

Fingerprints left at the scene matched Evans', according to the sheriff's department.

The sheriff's department continues to investigate. Sheriff Leon Lott said Evans may be tied to more burglaries in the Southern Drive and Shop Road areas.

Evans was charged with attempted burglary and was booked at the AlvinS. Glenn Detention Center.
