Richland County deputies arrested a 31-year-old man Monday after they say he fired shots into an apartment off Broad River Road.

Around 2 a.m., deputies responded to a shots fired call at Brook Pines Apartments. The female victim told deputies she was asleep but woke up to the sound of gunfire.

Columbia Police officers stopped the speeding Dodge Magnum near the Harbison State Forest, according to the sheriff's department. The driver, Harper, had been drinking.
Deputies say Harper later admitted to shooting into the apartment.
Harper is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
