Columbia PD Seizes More Than $10K in Marijuana
Officers found an indoor marijuana grow operation and bags of marijuana at a home on Coatesdale Road off Veterans Road, according to the Columbia Police Department.
Officers arrested a 25-year-old man after seizing more than $10,000 worth of marijuana from an indoor grow operation at a Columbia home this week, according to a release from the Columbia Police Department.
Bejamin Thomas Doar is charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and intent to distribute close to a school.
The house at 1033 Coatesdale Road where officers found marijuana is only a little more than a mile away from Hammond School, a private school serving elementary to high school-aged students.

Officers with the Drug Suppression Team got consent to search the home this week after receiving a Crimestoppers tip about drug activity near Garners Ferry Road.
They seized one mature marijuana plant with an estimated value of $5,000, according to the release. They also found 15 one-ounce bags of a green leafy substance worth approximately $5,250. The substance tested positive for marijuana.
Doar is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
