Police Arrest Man in Five Points Assault

Donnell Rashied Burney, 20, is charged with second-degree assault by a mob.

A 20-year-old man is in jail after Columbia Police say he physically assaulted another man last month in Five Points.

Donnell Rashied Burney is charged with second-degree assault by a mob. 

Police say Burney and two unknown men fought with another man in front of 805 Harden Street around 2 a.m. Feb. 16.

Burney is accused of striking the victim in his head and face, throwing the victim on the ground and kicking him in his head and face, according to Columbia Police.

The victim lost conciousness and suffered from a fractured jaw. He was taken to a local hospital.

Burney is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
