Police Charge 3 in Armed Robbery on Saluda Avenue

The incident happened just before midnight Tuesday in the 700 block of Saluda Avenue.

Three people are in jail after police say they robbed a group of people at gunpoint Tuesday night on Saluda Avenue. 

Crawford Cornelius, 18, BeQuan Recasner, 19, and Shanetra Jones, 21, are each charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and battery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

The three victims told officers that Cornelius, Recasner and Jones approached them just before midnight while they were walking down a dark alleyway heading to a local bar, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Cornelius, Recasner and Jones are accused of pushing the victims to the ground at gunpoint and stealing their wallets, purses, cell phones and car keys, according to police. 

A few minutes later, officers found Cornelius, Recasner and Jones sitting in a car that matched the description the victims provided. Officers also recovered some of the stolen items.

Cornelius, Recasner and Jones were transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. They are each being held on a $25,000 surety bond.
