Report: Escaped Inmate Captured in Piney Grove Road Area

An inmate who walked away from a work assignment Sunday evening was captured in the Piney Grove Road area Monday morning, according to reports. 

Maurice Vandell Bailey, 25, did not show up for inmate count at the end of his shift at Miyo's on Bower Parkway near Harbison Boulevard, WIS reports. 

Bailey was being held at the Campbell Pre-Release Center on Broad River Road, according to the S.C. Department of Corrections. The mininum-security facility offers a work release program for inmates. 

S.C. Law Enforcement Division officers captured Bailey around 9:20 a.m. Monday, according to the S.C. Department of Corrections. 

WIS reports that Bailey was serving a five-year sentence for robbery and was scheduled to be released in September.
