Reports: Man Pulled Over for Traffic Stop Jumps into River

The man is charged with several traffic violations.

Columbia Police arrested a man who they say jumped into the Congaree River Monday after he was pulled over for a traffic violation, according to reports.

Officers tried to pull over the man — later identified as 28-year-old Martin Yarbrough — near Blossom and Huger Streets Monday morning, according to a report from WLTX. The man didn't stop at first, but later pulled over near Pendleton and Huger Streets.

He then ran into the river, according to the report. An officer and his K9 tracked Yarbrough and arrested him.
