Richland 1 Superintendent: 'Shocked, Saddened' By Death of Student
7-year-old Joshua Brown died Wednesday after he was hit by a truck near the school.

After the death of 7-year-old Watkins-Nance Elementary student Joshua Brown Wednesday, crisis teams are at the school and neighboring Richland One schools to help students and staff with the loss, Richland One Superintendent Percy Mack said Thursday.
“The entire Richland One family is shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of a young life," Mack said.
Brown died after he was struck by a truck near the school Wednesday afternoon, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said.

The crisis teams, which include guidance counselors, psychologists and social workers, are available for counseling or other assistance.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Joshua’s family and with Principal Dr. Evelyn Cohens and her students, faculty and staff at Watkins-Nance,” Mack said.
