April is National Poetry Month and you can celebrate by entering the Pickens County Library System’s 2nd Annual Poetry Contest! This year there will two categories: Kids (17 and under) and Adults (18 and over). Entries will be accepted between Thursday, March 1 and Thursday, April 5. Only one entry is allowed per person and entries may be no longer than one page.Â
You may submit your entry at any Pickens County Library location, OR by mail (304 Biltmore Rd., Easley, SC 29640), by fax (864-850-7091), or by email (reference@pickens.lib.sc.us). All entries MUST include a name, age, and phone number.Â
Library staff will select 10 finalists and John Pursley III, local author and Clemson University Lecturer, will choose a winner in each category. The winners will be announced on Saturday, April 21 at 2pm at the Hampton Memorial Library in Easley. Winners will receive a $20 gift certificate to Poor Richard’s Booksellers of Easley and have their poems posted on the library’s website.Â
