Central Elementary teachers, staff members, parents, and students have been hard at work raising money for Relay for Life this year! In addition to selling coupons to teachers for “dress down” days, Central Elementary organized an event to remember — one that may very well become an annual one! Rock the Rec, the first-ever CES students vs. teachers basketball game, was held last night at the Central-Clemson Recreation Center.
A team of 12 students, grades K-5, went up against a strong faculty team of fifteen adult employees from Central Elementary. Coached by PE teacher Donna McKinney, the students out-played the teacher team and won with a final score of 28 to 21. We had over 500 fans show up to support, and were able to raise almost $1000 from this one event. Way to go, students, for an excellent game of basketball! And thanks to all the employees, volunteers, and fans who helped make this event a success!
