'The Paperboy' at Hampton Library

Join the Easley Book Discussion group on Tuesday, January 24 at 7pm at the Hampton Memorial Library to discuss The Paperboy by Pete Dexter, Winner of the National Book Award.

Hillary Van Wetter is on death row for the murder of the Moat County sheriff.  Detecting a story, Ward James, a native of Moat County turned Miami reporter, returns to his hometown to investigate.  Ward brings an ambitious and morally questionable writer, Yardley Acheman, with him.  When Ward is jumped, beaten, and hospitalized, Yardley finishes the story without him, fabricating evidence to do so.  It isn’t long before Yardley’s wrongdoings come to light and trouble ensues.

“Dexter is a taut storyteller who keeps the pages turning.”  --Library Journal
