Anderson County Museum Offers Writers Workshop
Author Vonda Skelton to lead free "Writing is Fun!" workshop Saturday

The Anderson County Museum will host a workshop entitled “Writing is Fun!” given by Vonda Skelton on January 12 at 1 p.m. This workshop is designed for boys and girls from ages 8-12. The workshop is free, but you must register. Please call the Museum at 864-260-4737 to assure your spot in the workshop.
The Writing is Fun! Workshop will teach children the basics of writing a story, how to develop characters that will be memorable, how and where to get great ideas, and how to pack your story with exciting scenes that hook the reader. At the end of the workshop, the students will create their own well-rounded character, which will be complete with physical description, talents, backstory, fears, and much more!
Students will be excited when they are in class and asked to write a story because they will be able to apply what they learned from Vonda to earn the best grade in class!

Vonda Skelton grew up in South Carolina and says she never wanted to do “little girl things.” It took her over 40 years to decide what she wanted to be, which was a writer and speaker, with some acting along the way. The Writing is Fun! Workshop has been to public and private schools and Vonda has spoken to over 22,000 students through the years.
She is also a freelance writer and has had articles appear in Focus on the Family publications and on www.keepkidshealthy.com. She is the founder and co-director of ChristianCommunicators.com, co-director of NCompass Writing Retreat, co-owner of SCW Productions, and co-director of the Intern Program at the Gideon Media Arts Conference and Film Festival. She still resides in South Carolina with her husband and is so excited for the opportunity to share with your children the fun of being a writer!
