Annual Arts and Crafts Show Set For Sept. 29
Birchwood Center's annual arts and crafts showcase will be held 10am - 4pm Saturday, Sept. 29 at Table Rock Wesleyan Camp.

The Arts and Crafts Show put on each year by the Birchwood Center for Arts and Folklife keeps growing – so much so that the show will be housed at a new venue this year.
This year's Arts and Crafts Show will be held 10 am – 4pm Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Table Rock Wesleyan Camp, adjacent to Table Rock State Park.
Previous shows had been held in the park itself, but a bigger venue was needed as the show continued to grow, said Linda Bowie with the Birchwood Center.

“This is our seventh year,” Bowie said. “It's grown so much we've had to get access to larger grounds. We love the general area and have stayed in the Table Rock area, as close to Highway 11 as possible.”
The Table Rock Wesleyan Camp's address is 600 West Gate Road.

Birchwood Center officials believe the annual Arts and Crafts show fulfills a vital purpose.
“We want to provide artists and crafters a venue to showcase their works, because we have a lot of talent in this area, and we want everyone to know what we have,” Bowie said.
This year's show features over 60 exhibitors “representing a wide range of arts and crafts,” Bowie said.
Nationally known wildlife illustrator Bruce Bunch is bringing his beautiful illustrations of birds, fish and other animals, Bowie said.
Author, researcher and quilter Laural Horton will have her one-of-a-kind quilted potholders.
Alpaca farmers Gloria and Joe Williams will be showing off the soft creations and yarn made from alpaca fur at their Lucky Acre Farms.
There will be a wide selection of artists working in a variety of mediums and crafters with creations in wood, pottery, stained glass (including pet portraits), chair caning and basketmaking, smocking, knitting, crocheting, felting (hats and scarves), weaving, spinning, photography, cards, hand carved walking sticks, shadow boxes, goats milk soap and fudge, birdhouses, porch furniture (including swings), chests, wire and handmade glass bead creations, gourd artists, jewelry makers (including wooden jewelry created by David Tillinghast), and more.
The event will also feature live music, Bowie said.
Emerald Road will perform from 10am – noon, while Six Chickens and A Beer are set to play from 12:30 – 3:30pm, she said.
Yoder's at Meece Mill will have sandwiches, drinks and baked goods for sale throughout the day, Bowie said.
There's plenty of parking, and Birchwood has access to buildings on the camp grounds, so the show will be held rain or shine.
The show is co-sponsored by the Pickens County Museum of Art and History and with Pickens County accommodations tax funds.
