Area Students Will Witness Presidential History
Students from Gettys Middle School and R.C. Edwards Middle School traveling to Washington for inauguration.

Students from R.C. Edwards Middle School and Gettys Middle School will be traveling to Washington D.C. this week for the 57th presidential inauguration.
Eighty-five members of the R.C. Edwards Festival Band, along with 25 chaperones will leave for the nation’s capital on Thursday, January 17th. The Festival Band is an auditioned ensemble selected from over 200 band students that make up the band program at R.C. Edwards.
“The band is once again looking forward to representing the School District of Pickens County and the State of South Carolina in the Presidential Inaugural Festival ,” said Daniel Marsh, band director at R.C. Edwards.

Following the competitions, the Edwards students will join other schools from across the country their very own inaugural ball and awards ceremony at the BWI Marriot Ball Room in Baltimore, Maryland.
In addition to the performance aspects of the trip, the band and history club members will have time to enjoy the museums, monuments, museums, and United States Capitol building, and will witness the presidential inauguration and Inaugural Parade firsthand.

The History Club at Gettys Middle School is leaving on Saturday, January 19th to tour the capital and enjoy a front seat to American history on Monday.
