BBQ Fundraiser Benefits Local Cancer Patients
2nd Annual Pig Pickin' for the PCCA slated for April 5-6 in Old Market Square.

Everyone loves good barbeque, and there will be plenty of it at the Pig Pickin’ for the PCCA on April 5-6 in Old Market Square in Easley. In its second year, the Pickens County Cancer Association (PCCA) will hold a chicken wing competition and barbeque contest to raise money for local cancer patients.
On Friday the 5th from 6-10 pm, the public can come out and enjoy the chicken wing competition. “This was extremely popular last year,” said board member Cynthia Smoak. On Friday night, the best wings will be voted on by the public. Music will be provided by Euphoria.
The barbeque competition will take place on Saturday the 6th from 11am-4pm
with awards announced at 3:30pm. This event is a South Carolina Barbeque
Association sanctioned cook-off. Teams from the tri-state have been invited to participate, which in turn allows them to earn points toward the state title. “Competition is serious. We had seven teams participate last year and are expecting many more this year,” Smoak said. “Teams will be hard at work cooking all night, ” she adds. The Derrick Dorsey band will be playing on Saturday.
Attendees can purchase all-you-can-eat-bracelets for $10. Children 10 and
under are $5. There will be plenty of delicious barbeque plus other food vendors.
If you are interested in being a sponsor, cooking team, or vendor for this event, please contact Cynthia Smoak at Cynthia.Smoak@pccancer.org or call

(wheel chairs, walkers, etc.), nutritional supplement, wigs, scarves, and
other cancer-related items. For more information about PCCA, please visit
