Landmarks Are Important

When you first arrive in a new place and nothing is familiar the first thing you have to do is make note of the most distinctive landmarks. 

In Easley, as I drive aimlessly around trying to learn the area, the region's water towers have been immensely helpful. The hilly landscape makes other landmarks less visible, however, these mighty instruments are typically located at the highest point in a community. 

I feel that water towers are among the most utilitarian of structures created by mankind. They provide communities with a steady flow of clean water, they identify communities either by name or local team, and they provide newcomers with a sense of direction.
