Sometimes It's Worth Looking Crazy
Sometimes it's easier on our ego to pass on by- but sometimes it's worth coming across a bit crazy.

My wife (Erika) and I decided to take care of the much-dreaded DMV trip this morning. Before making our way to the Pickens County DMV we decided to stop for some coffee in downtown Easley. When I made the turn to cross the railroad tracks to get to Main Street, Erika began frantically exclaiming "Oh No, A Cat is under that truck!" And sure enough to our right a tiny kitten was scurrying about under the tires of an SUV waiting at the red light.Â
Erika jumped out of the car in the middle of the intersection and began approaching the vehicle waving her arms. The woman driving the car must have thought my wife was a bit crazy, but quickly rolled down her window. The kitten had now climbed up into the wheel well to hide. The driver quickly reached in and pulled her out and handed her to Erika.
Needless to say we had to push back our visit to the DMV and drove straight to the Foothills Humane Society to see that our new friend was taken care of. My hope is that someone will adopt her quickly, but in the case she doesn't find a new home we've told the Humane Society that our dog (who is terrified of cats) will have to adapt.

We've noticed several stray dogs and cats in the area and our gut instinct is always to scoop them up and take them in, but this time we had to act fast. This meant jumping out in the middle of an intersection and looking entirely crazy- but it was totally worth it. Our trip to the DMV on the other hand, was not as gratifying. As expected we'll be heading back again tomorrow with yet another document to prove that we do in fact live in Easley (the first three didn't seem to work!)
If anyone is interested in adopting this kitten, contact our friend at the Foothill Humane Society in Liberty at 864-843-9693.
