Byrd, Haas Miss Invitation Back to The Masters

Anderson native Jonathan Byrd didn't have enough birdies to receive an invitation to The Masters next year.

Byrd would birdie three of the last 18 holes, but also had five bogeys in the final round.

The former Spring Valley High and Clemson University standout would finish 3-over-par on Sunday, tying for 27th place, and missing the cutoff for the top 16 players to receive an invitation for next year's tourney by seven shots.

Bill Haas of Greenville would finish the day 2-under-par, but it wouldn't be enough to earn him an invitation back.

Haas bogeyed three of the last 18 holes, but would hit five birdies to complete the final round. He tied at 37th.

Both golfers were in the field this year because they had finished among the top 30 money winners in 2011. They would have to do that again this year or finish high in a major to qualify for next year's Masters. The top eight at the U.S. Open and top four at the British Open and PGA Championship earn invitations to The Masters.

And it was a boy named Bubba from Georgia who won The Masters.

Bubba Watson has never taken a lesson but in front of thousands of spectators at Augusta National, he became the third lefty to win the tournament and to don the famous green jacket.

Watson would finish 4-under for the day and 10-under for the tourney. He won on the second playoff hole against Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa.
