Cannon Hospital, City of Pickens Partner forTrick or Treat on Main

Cannon Hospital and The City of Pickens is once again planning its annual trick or treating event as a means of providing a safe, family oriented atmosphere for trick or treating.  This year’s “Trick or Treat on Main” will be held on Saturday, October 27 from 5-8pm on West Main Street in Pickens and is open to all children ages 12 and under, free of charge.  Because of liability issues, no animals will be allowed on the trick or treat trail. 

During the event, West Main Street is blocked off and kids are able to trick or treat from booth to booth, without the fear of traffic.  “Cannon Hospital started this tradition over 15 years ago when door-to-door trick or treating became unsafe and we moved it to Main Street in order to make it handicap accessible and open to everyone in the community,” said Amanda Dow, Director of Community Relations at Cannon. 

Businesses, organization, churches and individuals can reserve a space on the trail at no charge, decorate it and hand out candy.  “We usually have about 20 booths with some really unique decorations, everything from lights and costumes to a walk through Wizard of Oz trail.”
