Castlebay To Perform At Anderson County Library

Celtic music duo set to perform at Thursday, February 28.

The Friends of the Anderson County Library will host a special return engagement of the popular Celtic music duo, Castlebay, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Anderson County Library, 300 N. McDuffie St.

Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee make up Castlebay and will perform “Bards and Blarney.” The fun program features traditional Irish songs and stories, blending the history and legends of Ireland.

Julia is a skilled performer with the Celtic harp and has won national and international competitions. She is in demand as a teacher of harp performance workshops throughout the eastern United States. Fred Gosbee plays classic and 12-string guitar, as well as violin, viola, tin whistle, and Irish flute. His original songs have been sung and recorded by many professional artists.

Together the duo has toured the eastern United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, and areas in Eastern Europe.

Fred and Julia will present a special concert for children ages 6-12 at 4 p.m. on Feb. 28 at the Main Library, as well.

The performances are free. For more information, contact Community Services Coordinator Marybeth Evans at 260-4500, ext. 107.
