Concrete’s K4 Class Builds Their Own Walmart

Students very excited about Powdersville Walmart, so teachers decided to incorporate it into lesson plan.

The students in Miss James’ and Mrs. Johnson’s K4 morning class, at Concrete Primary School, have been very interested in the new Walmart that is being built in Powdersville.

The children have been talking about it with one another at breakfast and trying to build it in the block center.

Yesterday we worked together as a class to make the new Walmart. We put the walls together and added some cash registers and people. One student had the idea to build a parking lot. Once he did that, another student had the idea to take the flower-shaped buttons and put them around the parking lot.

Some of the students worked on making signs for the items that Walmart would sell. The students had to choose an item that would be at Walmart and paint it. Then they had to decide how much to charge for it. At our Walmart, we are selling flowers for $1, bikes for $6, Valentines for $100, and tractors for $6500!  Well done boys and girls! What a fun way to learn about your community!
