Coroner Identifies Pedestrian Killed Wednesday

Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley has identified the pedestrian killed on Highway 135 early Wednesday morning.

Vance Marion Bailey, 30, of 529 Cassell Road, Liberty was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by several cars. 

Kelley said Bailey had apparently wrecked his vehicle by losing control and overcorrecting.

He had walked 1-1.5 miles from his own vehicle when he was struck by a vehicle, Kelley said.

He was struck by other vehicles as he was lying in the road.

Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said there was poor visibility at the time of Bailey's death.

All of the vehicles involved did stop, troopers said.
