County Offices Closing at 11am Due to Inclement Weather

County offices are closing today at 11am, due to the inclement weather.

Pickens County Schools dismissed at 10am this morning. School district spokesman John Eby said the district had early parts of freezing rain in the northern part of the county. District officials wanted families to avoid the risk of driving home from school in dangerous road conditions. All after school events today are canceled as well. Activities will resume as planned on Saturday.

Last night, School District of Pickens County Superintendent Dr. Kelly Pew said the district was monitoring the weather situation.

She said the timining of the inclement weather made decisions especially difficult, as the brunt of the winter storm was not scheduled to begin until after 8am.
