CU's Men's and Women's Glee Perform Together

Concert will be held 8pm Thursday, December 6 and will include Christmas songs and carols.

The Clemson University Men’s and Women’s Glees join together in concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts.

The program consists of an eclectic mix of pieces from major style periods. Jared Daugherty conducts the Men’s Glee, while the Women’s Glee is conducted by Justin Durham. Luke Fang will accompany on the piano.

The Men’s Glee begins the night with “Zion’s Walls” by Aaron Copland and follows with Franz Schubert’s “Widerspruck (Contradiction)” Two works, “Silent Noon” and “Drinking Song (Back and Side Go Bare),” by Ralph Vaughan Williams will be featured along with two Pavel Chesnokov pieces: “Duh Tvoy Blagiy Op. 25, No. 10” and “Spaséñiye sodélal Op. 25, No. 5.” The group concludes with a Nigerian Christmas song, “V. Betelehemu” by Via Olatunji.

The second half of the evening places the Women’s Glee at center stage with a variety of pieces, including Benjamin Britten’s “Wolcum Yole” from "Ceremony of Carol" and “Radiant Sister of Day” by David Brunner, “Sing and Make Melody” by Alice Parker and “Everyone Sang” by Paul John Rudoi. Huddie Ledbetter’s piece, “Bring Me Little Water, Sylvie,” follows and the night comes to a close with “Gloria” by Ola Gjeilo.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and are available online at www.clemson.edu/Brooks and from the box office at 864-656-7787 from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
