District, DHEC Partnering For Flu Vaccines

Flu shots and flu mist will be available for students month. Locations include Gettys Middle School and Pickens High School.

The School District of Pickens County is partnering with the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control to offer flu vaccines for students.

The vaccines will be offered on a number of dates next month.

If your child is covered by Medicaid or does not have any health insurance, he or she is eligible to receive the flu vaccine at no cost to you, thanks to the Federal Vaccines for Children (VFP) program.

If your child has private health insurance, VaxCare will bill your insurance. If your insurance does not pay, VaxCare will send you a bill ($25 for the shot of $30 for the nasal mist). If you have any questions about insurance coverage, contact your health insurance provider.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention strongly recommends that everyone 6 months or age and old get a flu vaccine.

Both flu shots and flu mist will be available at the district/DHEC vaccine events.

Flu vaccines will be given 4-6pm Wednesday, November 14 at Gettys Middle School in Easley.

Vaccines will be given Thursday, November 8 from 4-6pm at Pickens High School

On Tuesday, November 13, the vaccines will be given from 4-6pm at Liberty High School.

On Wednesday, November 7, the vaccines will be given at Daniel High School from 4-6pm.

Make sure to bring your child's insurance or Medicaid card with you.
