Don't Bring the Flu Home From Your Holiday Parties

Powdersville Medical offers tips for avoiding sickness this holiday season.

Powdersville Medical and Baptist Easley have some tips to help you remain flu-free this season.

First and foremost, get a flu shot. Flu struck me down early this year, and I spent most of a week in bed, wondering when exactly I had been hit by a speeding truck.

Don’t be like me  - get vaccinated.

Officials recommend that everyone over the age of six months should get a flu shot.

Other tips include:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs spread this way.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Practice good health habits. Get plenty of sleep and exercise, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat healthy food.
