Dot Trotter Retires from Sheriff's Office

Pickens County Sheriff's Office served in law enforcement for 37 years.

Captain Dorothy “Dot” Trotter was honored recently, as she prepares to retire from the Pickens County Sheriff's Office.

Trotter has served in law enforcement for 37 years.

She was one of several Pickens County Sheriff's Office employees retiring this year, who were recognized at a recent luncheon.

“to be able to honor these individuals on this day for the service they have given Pickens County.”

Trotter works in the Communications Division of the Pickens County Sheriff's Office.

“She was the first female to come serve in the Pickens County Sheriff's Office,” Stone said.

Stone presented Trotter with a plaque that reads “In sincere appreciation for your dedicated and loyal service to the Pickens County Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Pickens County, February 8, 1975 – December 31, 2012.”

Trotter was given a standing ovation.

Trotter said she could “tell war stories about everyone in this room.”

“Remember, I've been here the longest, next to the sheriff,” she said. “He and I came from the old building.

“All of you around the room, I've had a lot of fun with you,” Trotter said. “I love you all, and I pray God keeps you safe.”
