Dyke Spencer receives Distinguished Herman F. Wiedeman Award

Powdersville Water District General Manager Dyke Spencer recognized at South Carolina Environmental Conference.

Dyke Spencer, General Manager for Powdersville Water District (PWD), recently received the Herman F. Wiedeman Award at the opening session of the South Carolina Environmental Conference held March 10-12, 2013, at Myrtle Beach. This award is presented annually by the South Carolina Section of the American Water Works Association (SCAWWA) to a member who has actively engaged in the water supply profession and has contributed substantially toward achievement and science of the water supply industry in the Section.

Dyke has over 32 years’ experience as a SC water professional.  In 2004, he left Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority to become the General Manager of PWD.  He currently holds several environmental licenses in water and wastewater, he serves as a member of the Anderson Chamber of Commerce Board, Chairman of the Chamber Water Resources Committee, Chairman of the Anderson Regional Joint Water System, Chairman of SC Water Utility Council and is a member of the Keowee-Toxaway Stakeholder team with Duke Energy’s Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Relicensing.

During his 9 years at PWD, with the consent of a proactive Board of Directors, he has led numerous efforts that have transformed the District from a small rural utility to a modern, mid-sized, forward-thinking company that has become recognized as a leader in its class.
