“The Nutcracker is the most widely produced ballet in the world, according to Suzanne Goodman with the Easley Dance Conservatory.
She said the storyline is what makes the show so appealing and enduring.

“A girl receives a magical nutcracker from her uncle, then goes to sleep and is carried away to the Land of the Sweets,” Goodman said. “The storyline is easy to follow. I think people enjoy watching ballet when it's an easy one to understand.”
The production is the only full-length version produced by a Pickens County dance school, Goodman said.
“There's no other dance studio in Pickens County that produces one,” Goodman said, of her decision to create a production here in Easley. “I wanted to produce one to bring it to Pickens County for the Christmas season.”
She said the production grows year and year.
“There are several larger ones in Greenville, but this is a more affordable opportunity for the family to come out and enjoy.”
The cast includes students from Pickens County and Anderson County, as well as local adults. Goodman said the cast of around 40 dancers has been rehearsing since September.
Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door, Goodman said.
Tickets can be purchased at Easley Dance Conservatory on Sundays from 2-4pm, Mondays from 4-7pm, Tuesdays from 4-8:30pm and Thursdays from 4-8pm.
