Easley High Student Arrested After Weapons Found in Car

A 17-year-old student at Easley has been charged with Possession of Firearm on School Property after weapons were found in his car on school grounds.

Hunter Green, of Easley, was arrested this morning, according to Major Tim Tollison with the Easley Police Department. 

Tollison said Easley Police officers met with school officials at 10:30am this morning, after a concerned student told faculty members that another student had weapons and ammunition in his vehicle.

Faculty members searched the car and found numerous weapons, including a 22 caliber handgun, Tollison said.

On 12/17/12 at approximately 10:30am officers form the Easley Police Department meet with school officials at the Easley High School. A concerned student approached faculty members and advised them that another student had weapons and ammunition inside his vehicle. Faculty members conducted a search of the student’s car and did find numerous weapons including a loaded 22 caliber handgun.

In addition to the 22 caliber revolver, two wooden axe handles, a pair of handcuffs, a stun gun, a razor blade knife, nine knives of various sizes and over 200 rounds of ammunition were found in the car, Tollison said.

Green was arrested on scene by Easley police, Tollison said. He is currently at the Easley Law Enforcement Center awaiting a bond hearing, Tollison said.

An Easley High School student has been arrested after a gun  and ammo were found in their car on campus today.

According to School District of Pickens County Spokesman John Eby, a student told a teacher that another student had weapons and ammunition in their car on school grounds.

“Upon searching the car, school staff found that the student did have weapons and ammunition in the car,” Eby said. “It appears that the guns were left in the car after being used for hunting and recreation and were not taken to the school with the intent to harm anyone. However, bringing weapons on school grounds violates state law, and the school district has a zero-tolerance policy towards weapons on school grounds.”

The student could also face expulsion from school, Eby said. District policy states that the student shall be recommended for expulsion for no less than 365 days.

“The timing of this incident is extremely unfortunate, but there is no indication that there was ever an intended threat to the school. We commend the student who came forward with the information and the staff members who responded quickly to ensure the safety of Easley High.”
