Easley Work-Release Inmate Escapee Captured

Matthew Brissey back in jail on escape charge.

A Pickens County inmate who went AWOL from a work-release program has been captured and jailed, deputies said.

Matthew Brissey, 21, was serving the third day of his sentence for giving false information to an Easley police officer when he escaped from a work-release job Wednesday morning, Fox Carolina reported.

Brissey was working with other non-violent offenders assisting a road crew with a pipe installation when he escaped around 10:10 a.m.

Brissey reportedly was caught in a yard on Moore Drive about a mile or two from the work site. He is currently back in jail and facing an escape charge, the station reported.
